Amanda walked into her room to find a note on her bed. She sat down down to read it. The envelope had the school name on it, and a small picture of a snake in the upper right corner. Hmm. That's an interesting school mascot, she thought absent-mindedly.
Dear Amanda Gates, I would like to inform you that you will no longer be alone in your dorm room. A new student by the name of Delaney Gerahi, (Gare-uh-hee is how she told me to pronounce it.) and she should be arriving soon today. The staff and I hope you enjoy having company this year at Westbrook Academy. Best wishes, Ms. Gallagher Campus Supervisor
Amanda would be having a new roommate soon. She wondered what student would want to enroll a few weeks into the year already. She lay down on her bed to wait for awhile.

Delaney opened the door to Room 14. Amanda was sleeping on her bed on one end of the room. She woke up at the sound of the door. "Delaney? Is that you?" she asked in a muffled voice. "Yes, it's me."

Her voice was small and quiet, but it rang like bells. Amanda sat up so she could see her face. A girl with dark black, lusterous hair, and pale skin stood in front of the door.. Her sparkling eyes were the same obsideon color as her hair. She was amazingly dazzling. "H-Hi, I'm Amanda G-Gates. Welcome to Westbrook."

"Thanks. I came a little late because of some last-minute complications. It's nice to meet you," she said with a much stronger voice. Delaney resisted the urge to curtsy. Humans didn't do that. It had been so long since she'd been in the Mortal World, that she forgot certain things. She held out her hand instead. Amanda shook it with a faint smile on her face. This girl is frightened of me.... Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. "Well, I hope to see you in some of my classes," Amanda answered. Delaney smiled warmly. This could work.
