They arrived by noon, which was pretty good timing. Jade was excited to see all of her familiar home. "Jared?" "Yes?" He was starting to take a few bags out of the car. Jade projected a few to hover near her. "You don't know how glad I am right now. It's really making this a better vacation now that I'm not alone." He smiled. "Same here," he answered. Jade opened her front door. The second she turned the lights on, she heard a scream. Jade screamed too.

"Peyton?" Jade yelled. "Jade!" she screamed back. The two girls hugged each other tightly, unaware of the guy who was standing behind them. "I haven't heard from you in two years!" Peyton raised an eyebrow at her. "And who is this?" "He's my friend, Jared." "Friend?" Peyton gave her one of her devilishly evil smiles. "Yes. Friend." "I can hear everything you guys are saying..." Jared's voice interupted. "Sorry," Jade answered. "Jared this is Peyton. Peyton, Jared." "Pleasure to meet you," Peyton bowed. "So, what brings you to Vancouver?" "Well, I was in the area, and I heard you went off to college. So, I hacked into the school's website, and figured out you had a vacation these two weeks. I thought, where else does she have to go, and... I came here!" "Wow, this is not what I expected at all..." "Um, since you two have obviously some catching up to do, I'll start unpacking inside. See you bit, Jade." Peyton caught the brief smile that they shared before he disappeared inside. "Just a friend, Jade?" "Yes, and don't think anything further than that, I'm warning you now. I don't want you thinking the same thing as everyone else." She grinned one of those smiles that worried Jade. "I like a little danger... If you didn't want anyone to think anything, why do you make it so obvious that you two... have something?"

"What? We don't have something. Again, we're just friends." "Mmhmm. That's what they all say, honey." Jade sighed. Same old Peyton. "You know, you haven't changed a bit since you left." Peyton laughed shortly. "I try." She leaned on one of her hips. "So, if you guys 'are just friends', then why are you two on vacation together?" "He had nowhere else to go either, except Asia or Tennesse... So I offered to let him stay here for two weeks." "Asia?" "Yeah, it's a long story. What I want to know is, why eactly are you just 'in the area.'" "Um... well, I wanted to tell you there's been some recent activity in Flaines. Lots of them in the forest over behind a dark purple house not far from your old one. Two or three blocks at the least." "Is that horse still there?" Jade was worried, and wanted to make sure that no one was after anyone. "No. It left sort of around the time Jeff did, which means there has to be some sort of connection." Peyton and Jade have been doing this for years. They've been all over the world tracking people and places to get information about Jeff. So far, the most helpful information has come from Flaines, so they think Jeff left to somewhere from his hometown. There used to be a horse that would come to the forest at midnight and disappear come daylight. "So do you think that the animal was after him or the girl?" Peyton shook her head. "We have no proof. I can't have a valid opinion on anything right now." "Ah, well. That means the hunt is still on." They both sighed in unison.
